The old village centre Jaun

37

In 1711, a village fire completely destroyed 17 houses, 8 granaries and 4 stables. One house here was spared from the fire. On its façade is written:

IN THE 1675TH YEAR

ANTHONI ROSCHI HAS TOLD US THAT THERE IS NO BUILDING SO WHITE AND OLD THAT ANYONE WOULD LIKE IT GOD PRESERVE THIS HOUSE AND WHAT IS IN IT FROM FOR

CHRISTIAN THURIFER OF THE ZEITLANDT WEIBEL IN JAUN BUILT IN THE YEAR 1675

A granary was also spared from the fire. It is the oldest building in the village. (approx. 100 metres to the right of here) with a detailed description on such a sign on the village street below.
